Dispatches From HCCA 2024

The Health Care Compliance Association held its annual meeting in Nashville this week, bringing together more than 2,000 compliance professionals to talk shop, hear from healthcare regulators, and make endless references to country music and southern cuisine. Radical Compliance could not attend in person, so below is a quick roundup of social media dispatches from the scene.

We begin with a look at the HCCA logo, nicely backlit by the Nashville skyline. (Plus a plug for two compliance jobs open at UCHealth!)

Robert DiConti, chief counsel to the Office of the Inspector General at the Department of Health and Human Services, delivered a speech talking about industry-specific compliance guidance (on the way, he says) and potential risks of artificial intelligence, among other issues. He did not play the guitar behind him.

But this guy did!

Not all topics at a healthcare compliance conference involve healthcare! Some are about being a successful compliance executive.

Strength in low numbers: compliance officers who serve as “departments of one” gathered and formed their own affinity group. If you want to join their online group they are happy to have you!

Wondering what the enforcement priorities are at the Office of Civil Rights these days? Print out this slide and wonder no longer.

A look at the numerous speakers during a general session panel on Day 2.

More from the minds of OCR.

Congratulations to HCCA for another successful event. Word on the street is that next year’s conference will be in Las Vegas — mark your calendars, and remember to always split 10s!
